Angela is our latest member of the month! She is finishing up grad school, working, and is the mother of 3 kiddos! Despite balancing all these priorities she makes time to come 5 Valleys each week and knock out her workouts. She is is constantly looking for ways to continually improve while enjoying the process and having fun.

Tell us a little bit about yourself (background, work, fun, etc.)
I have lived in Missoula for a little over three years and came here from TX by way of WA. I am finishing up a Masters in Public Administration and Nonprofit Management at UM and have many years of experience working in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault.
What were you doing for fitness before you joined?
I was an avid runner before starting CrossFit four years ago. Unfortunately, as I’ve aged, my knees no longer appreciate long runs multiple times a week. Strength training has been an amazing opportunity to gain core strength that I had lost from being pregnant.
What was your biggest challenge prior to joining?
A Weak core. I felt super sad that after having kids I was unable to regain the core strength I once had. Lifting weights and learning gymnastics has been life changing for my quality of life.
What specific results can you share (Improvements/accomplishments in the gym and life)?
CrossFit has helped me to gain both physical and mental strength.
What would you say to somebody on the fence about joining?
I always tell friends who are intimidated to come to CF that they are their own worst critic, and that in all reality no one in the gym is going to judge them. I really appreciate that 5 Valleys is a gym that embraces a culture of acceptance and self-care.
